PRIVACY POLICY

Taxedo,” “we,” “our,” and/or “us”) values the privacy of individuals who use our website (collectively, the “Taxedo platform”), as well as our transportation and/or other services (collectively, the “Services”). 

This privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) explains how we collect, use, and share information from Taxedo subscribers and any other persons who access the Taxedo Platform or utilize the Services including anyone who may not be a subscriber but rides in any of the Taxedo vehicles at the invitation of a subscriber (collectively, “Clients”). Beyond the Privacy Policy, your accessing the Taxedo Platform or use of the Services is also subject to our Terms and conditions available at https://www.taxedo-ke.com.

You consent to the practices outlined in this Privacy Policy by using the Taxedo Platform and/or the Services. If you have any inquiries about our procedures involving personal information, kindly get in touch with us right away.

Taxedo complies with and will continue to do so in accordance with the Data Protection Act of Kenya, the Kenyan Constitution, the National Transport and Safety Authority’s (NTSA) Regulations, and any other applicable laws.

CAPACITY

Since the processing of personal information is based on consent, Taxedo will not knowingly handle personal information for users who are younger than the legal age of consent in Kenya. If we come to know that we are carrying out that processing with these users, we will immediately stop doing so and take reasonable steps to swiftly delete the relevant information from our records.

DATA COLLECTION

  1. (Information You Provide to Us, which We Collect and Data about your client profile)

Your name, identification (I.D.) number, email address, phone number, login name and password, and billing information (as may be required from time to time) are among the details you provide us when you subscribe to the Services.  You may also submit preferences and settings that you activate for your Taxedo account when you use the Taxedo Platform and the Services. When you use the Taxedo Platform, we might gather both “Personal Information” and “Anonymous Information” about you. Your full name, identification number, email address, phone number, payment method, and profile image are examples of personal information that can be used to contact or identify you. It also includes information that is associated with such information. “Anonymous Information” is data that cannot be utilized to get in touch with you or identify you and is not connected to data that can. To the extent that the information is not connected to your Personal Information, it also includes passively gathered information about your usage patterns and other activities on the Service. We passively gather information from your devices, similar to the majority of website and mobile app providers, such as your IP address, browser details, location, unique device identifier (“UDID”), and/or your mobile operating system.

Exchanges and communication with Taxedo.

When you contact our Taxedo Client support staff, rate or review a driver, or otherwise get in touch with us, we may collect the information you offer. Your name, email address, phone number, any messages or attachments you submit to us, together with any additional information you voluntarily choose to give us, will all be shared with us.

Demographic Information:

We may compile your responses to our client surveys along with particular demographic data you provide to us.

  1. Data we collect when you use the Taxedo platform or services

Location Details.

We get your location when you launch the Taxedo app on your mobile device. While the app is open or closed, we might also gather precise location data from your device. We utilize your location data for a variety of things, such matching you with Drivers in the area, figuring out drop-off and pick-up locations, and recommending destinations based on previous journeys. In order to help ensure the safety of Taxedo’s clients, drivers, or a member of the public, our security team may use and share location information. To find local promotions or service upgrades, we may also gather your location when the app is not open if you grant us permission through your device’s settings or our app.

Device Specifications.

We may gather data about the hardware models, device IP address, operating systems and versions, software, file names and versions, preferred languages, unique device identifiers, advertising identifiers, serial numbers, device motion data, and mobile network data of the devices you use to access our services.

Usage Information.

We automatically collect information about your interactions with the Taxedo Platform, such as the pages or other content you view, your activities inside the Taxedo app or website, and the dates and times of your visits, in order to better understand how you use it and to help us improve it.

Information via text and call.

We collaborate with a third party partner to enable communication between our customers and the drivers we have arranged for rides via phone calls and texts. These communications’ date, time of call or SMS, phone numbers of the parties, and SMS message content are all pieces of information we receive. We may also listen in on and/or record phone calls made on the Taxedo Platform, including those between clients and drivers, for security reasons. You hereby give your permission for the communications to be monitored as described above.

Contacts.

To facilitate invitations and social interactions you initiate through our Platform, as well as for other purposes outlined in this privacy statement or at the time of consent or collection, Taxedo may access and store names and contact information from your address book if you grant us permission to do so through the permission system used by your mobile service providers.

Data derived from cookies and related technologies.

To learn how you use the Taxedo Platform and interact with Taxedo ads, to understand how you use the Services, and to save your preferences, we gather information by using “cookies” and similar technologies. Small text files known as cookies are stored on your device by web servers and are used by websites and applications to identify your browser and store essential information. We might make use of both temporary and permanent cookies. After you close your browser, a session cookie vanishes. Every time you use the Taxedo Platform, a persistent cookie that is left behind after you close your browser can be accessed.

  1. Information We Collect from Third Parties

Third Party Services.

If you choose to register for Taxedo or otherwise link your Taxedo account with a third party’s service (such as Facebook, Instagram), we may receive the same type of information we collect from you (described above) directly from those services.

Third Party Partners.

We may receive additional information about you, such as demographic data, payment information, or fraud detection information, from our third-party partners and combine it with other information that we have about you.

Business programs.

If your firm, association, or organization joins one of our enterprise programs, your participating organization may provide us with information about you, including your email address. We might also allow your participating organization to ask for a ride on your behalf; in that case, they could offer us your name, contact information, and the pick-up and drop-off locations for your trip.

HOW WE MAKE USE OF THE DATA WE GATHER

We use the data we gather from visitors to the Taxedo Platform or users of the Services to:

  • Open an account and manage it;
  • Supply, enhance, broaden, and advertise the Taxedo Platform;
  • Establish client-driver connections;
  • Examine the Taxedo Platform’s utilization by Customers and Drivers;
  • Get in touch with you, either directly or via one of our partners, for marketing and promotional purposes;
  • Personalize each client’s Taxedo experience;
  • Send clients push notifications and SMS messages;
  • Facilitate client payments and transactions;
  • Offer customers customer service;
  • Identify and stop fraud;
  • Adhere to and enforce our rules, applicable laws, and pertinent industry standards;
  • Respond to trust and safety issues that may emerge, such as auto collisions, conflicts between Clients and Drivers, and demands from governmental agencies. • Comply with and enforce any legal requirements, relevant industry standards, and our policies.
  • The following are some uses of anonymous information that we may pursue:
  • Enhance the Taxedo Platform and Services and personalize your experience, for example by offering beneficial features and promotions that are specific to the services you are looking for.
  • Combine the data obtained from cookies and other similar technologies to do statistical analysis that will assist us in tracking trends, gauging the efficacy of our advertising, and identifying patterns.

HOW WE DISSEMINATE THE DATA WE GATHER

Distributing to drivers. In order to make it easier for us to provide the Services to Clients using the Taxedo Platform, drivers who have been matched with Clients for a ride are allowed to see basic information about the Client, such as names, photos, and other information they have submitted to Taxedo. The Client’s designated pick-up location is visible to drivers. As our Driver moves closer to the client’s pick-up spot, clients can see the vehicle information and real-time location of our Driver.

Although we facilitate communication between Clients and Drivers to schedule a pickup, we do not divulge your actual phone number or other contact details to other Clients. However, if you contact us to report a lost or found item, we will work to put you in touch with the appropriate party, including disclosing real contact information with your consent.

Sharing Between Taxedo and Third Parties

Partners.

Your information might be disclosed to our third-party partners so they can learn more about you. We might also collaborate with outside parties to develop offers that might be of interest to you using the information you provide.

Third Party Services.

You might be able to link to other websites, goods, or services using the Taxedo Platform that are not under our control. If you use these services, we will share information about you with the third party so they can render the service to you. We urge you to read their privacy policies before deciding whether to utilize their services because we have no control over the privacy practices of these third parties.

Service Providers.

In order to assist us provide the Services, including everything mentioned above, we collaborate with third party service providers who complete tasks on our behalf. We may share your information with these service providers. We also share Personal Information and Anonymous Information with contractors, consultants, and data processors that work on Taxedo’s behalf. This includes, but is not limited to, businesses who host the Taxedo Platform and Services and offer email services. Taxedo has chosen businesses who uphold high privacy standards and are committed to using Personal Information and Anonymous Information exclusively to carry out particular tasks on the company’s behalf and in accordance with the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy.

Other Sharing. During negotiations or in connection with a change in corporate control, such as 

  • a reorganization, merger, or sale of our assets, we may disclose your information to third parties.
  • We may also do so if a government agency requests it and we believe that doing so is necessary or appropriate to abide by applicable laws, rules, or legal processes.
  • When we believe it’s necessary to defend the community of Taxedo, Taxedo, or the general public’s rights, property, or safety, with law enforcement officers, governmental agencies, or third parties
  • To abide with court orders, civil or criminal summons, or other legally mandated disclosures or requirements.
  • Notify your referrer that you have redeemed or are eligible for the promotion if you signed up using a referral or promotion code from another client.
  • To share information about how you use the Taxedo Platform with prospective business partners in aggregated or de-identified form that cannot reasonably be used to identify you; • With our insurance partners to help determine and provide pertinent coverage in the event of an incident and whenever you give your consent to the sharing of information.

YOUR OPTIONS

Subscriptions via email.

You can always opt out of receiving our marketing or sales emails, but we will continue to send you transactional emails regarding how your account is using the Taxedo Platform. You provide your permission to receive these emails each time you use the Taxedo Platform.

Notifications via push.

Through the settings on your smartphone, you can choose not to receive push notifications. Please be aware that disabling push notifications could have an effect on how you use the Taxedo Platform (including getting alerts when your ride is ready). Details about the client profile. Your name will always be shared with our Drivers, but you can remove any other information you added to your Taxedo Profile at any time if you don’t want our Drivers to see it. However, your removed information may be kept around for a while before being permanently removed from the Taxedo Platform.

Location Details.

While you can always change your device’s operating system settings to stop it from sharing location data, client location is essential to the Taxedo Platform and without it, we can’t offer you the Services.

Accessing and Editing Your Information.

By going into your account settings and profile, you can check and change a selection of your account information. Please get in touch with us with your request to cancel your Taxedo account, along with the specifics of your client account that you wish to close. If you decide to cancel your Taxedo account, we will deactivate it for you; nevertheless, we reserve the right to keep account information for a specific amount of time and share it in accordance with this Privacy Policy for accounts that are not canceled. In order to collect any payments owing, settle disputes, troubleshoot issues, analyze how the Taxedo Platform is being used, support any investigations, stop fraud, etc. We may also keep information from your account.

OTHER

Security of Information.

We place a high priority on protecting the security of your information and will only gather personally identifiable information to the degree necessary to assist you in light of the above-described legitimate business goals. We treat all information we store as confidential. Only authorized personnel are allowed access to the data, which is all securely stored. We protect your Personal Information and Anonymous Information against unauthorized or unlawful processing and use, as well as against unintentional loss, destruction, damage, theft, or disclosure by putting in place and maintaining the necessary organizational, technological, and security safeguards. We will let you know as soon as we become aware of a security breach that may have compromised your personally identifiable information, which would be extremely rare. Please be aware that while we use these and other security precautions on our websites, complete protection is not always feasible. You are also responsible for safeguarding your personal data. Please keep your password a secret and don’t share it with anybody because it allows access to both your personal information and anonymous information.

How do you remove your consent or opt-out?

If, following your opt-in, you decide that you no longer want us to contact you regarding the ongoing collection, use, or disclosure of your personal information, you can do so at any time by sending us an email at the address listed below with your desire to opt-out or withdraw your consent.

How can your personal information be updated or deleted?

You can email us at the address provided below to request access to all of your personally identifiable information that we maintain. We provide you with the option to have inaccurate personally identifiable information in your account updated upon request. Sending us an email at the below-listed address will enable you to request that this information be updated.

Privacy of children.

Unless a specific Service allows differently, you must be at least 18 years old or, if it is lower than 18, the age of legal majority in your country. If the legal majority age in your country is different than 18 years old, you represent and warrant by opening a client account that you are at least 18 years old and that you have the capacity, right, and power to engage into and abide by the terms and conditions of this Agreement. Users who are younger than eighteen (18) or the age of majority in your jurisdiction (if that is different from eighteen) are not permitted to use the Service. You are prohibited from allowing third parties to access your client account, and you must be present when anyone under the age of 18 or the legal majority in your country (if that is different from 18) receives transportation services. Taxedo is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18 or the legal majority age in your country, whichever is older. We also do not knowingly collect Personal Information from anyone under the age of 18 or the legal majority age in your country, whichever is older. We shall take action to remove Personal Information provided to us by children under the age of eighteen (18) or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, if that age is lower than eighteen. Please get in touch with us right away if you think that a child who is younger than 18 or the legal majority age in your country (if that is different from 18) has provided us with Personal Information. When a Client brings a youngster inside a Taxedo vehicle, that Client agrees to the child’s usage of the Services and certifies that the Client has the right to do so.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy.

This privacy policy may undergo changes from time to time. We will notify you via the Taxedo Platform, email, or other means if we make any significant changes. To be informed about our privacy practices, we recommend you to review this privacy statement on a regular basis. You consent to the terms of this Privacy Policy and any amendments we make to it as long as you use the Taxedo Platform or the Services.
